Product Talk & Giveaway: Clearasil Vitamins & Extracts Daily Clear Wash (and Mask!)

This post is brought to you by Nuffnang Product Talk.

Designed for women who work hard and play hard, the new wash and scrub contains fruit extracts known for their skin conditioning properties, delicate enough to be used as part of a daily skin care routine.

It contains avocado extracts and vitamin E, glycerine for hydration, as well as pomegranate fruit extract, an anti-oxidant known to help keep skin looking  and feeling healthy.

Codeword: giveaway. Keep reading.

Recently, I was given the wonderful opportunity to review this product. This seriously could not have come at a more ideal time. Literally about 2 days ago, I ran out of my usual 10.0.6 cleanser, so I was absolutely delighted to receive this cleanser in the mail. Forgive my lack of language today; for some peculiar reason, my mind is full of fatigue and all I want to do is sleep. Like, all day kind of sleep. It's that chronic fatigue that has onset a smidge too early for my own, personal liking. I'm actually really struggling for words but I'm sure with multiple edits, the end-product should be somewhat presentable. Hopefully.

Even only after using this cleanser for 3 days, I've noticed that my face is less "stripped" post-shower, and what I mean by that is that the skin is cleaned properly but not to the extent where the natural moisture is completely removed.

That, I like.

I've always been a fan of pharmacy skincare products. It still gives me that whole "white coat" impression without the dire price tag attached, and maintains its tag of quality. It's reassuring.

One other important point to make is that this product smells amazing. It reminds me of the Dove Green Tea and Cucumber range, which is my go-to moisturiser. The Clearasil cleanser also boasts pomegranate, so the result is fresh and fruity. I don't know what else I can use to describe it. It's so refreshing and I confess that I have spent quite a few moments just sitting in my room while appreciating the scent.

The whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

While we're on the subject of truth, I must also confess that I freaked out a bit when I discovered this product was a mask. Like, after using it for a little while, I read a few more reviews on this and, to my horror, most of them described its use as a mask. I rushed upstairs and scrambled to my bathroom to rectify the situation.

Can be used as a daily cleanser, as well as a mask.

Situation diverted.

So, now you (and I both) know that there are two uses for this product, which makes it even more convenient because I love face masks, but I'm usually too lazy to reach for my separate face mask. As a result, my love of face masks has progressively degenerated into a past love, with admiration from both a distance and from reminiscence. Le sigh. Luckily for me, it can now be eventuated into something real again.

An update from the future: it lives up to its gentle nature. No burning, tingling or pain was experienced with this face mask. That, I also like. It's attributed to having less salicylic acid than other Clearasil products. Salicylic acid is a weird one, it is. Thinking back to my dentistry days, I recall that it's the main ingredient in aspirin. That's an NSAID. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug - which makes sense in its pimple treatment because pimples are localised inflammation, but the fact that it's an acid means that you're breaking through and removing the natural oils, which is counter-productive. Okay, enough chemistry talk and more product talk.

It has a very creamy consistency, which isn't a problem at all. Truthfully, when it comes to cleansers, I don't really care how it feels. It's a bit different though, in that it doesn't lather at all, but again it's not a problem. A little goes a long way with this product - it seems to just grab the dirt, which is a real positive.

Now, the one not-so-positive about this is the packaging, so there's nothing wrong with the product. The lid obliquely shaped, and sometimes when I open it, I feel as if I'm going to snap and break the entire top off. I mean, it's probably that I need to get more used to it, but as it stands, I'm not the biggest fan of the lid.. which is a pretty finicky thing to fuss over. Nevertheless, it's a small point of dispute which would in no way deter me from purchasing this product.

I like it and I will most likely be repurchasing.

  1. You didn't need to have the codeword there, I always read on! Haha, I loved that you included the salicylic acid chemistry talk, I feel like I'm work and reassuring a customer that no, it's in fact wanted on your skin.

I guess in answering the question, I really don't know (and very new to) skincare. I've used a few products before, but very hesitant to try others even though I haven't really found them to work. Maybe, it'll help me with my pre-exam stress pimples.

Some skin concerns would probably be the residual scarring I have from when I was younger, I'd love to know whether it would help in clearing that up a little and also stopping that stripped feeling after using my cleanser in the shower!

  3. My skin is quite sensitive and hyper-pigmentation-prone and often I get hormonal break outs. I get cystic pimples so they do hurt quite a lot and I usually have issues with abrasive or products that strip too much of the natural oils on my face. I'm hoping that Clearasil V&E will be gentle enough as a mask and a wash to cater to my problematic skin conditions as my skin reacts quite well to avocado extracts. I also use avocado oil in conjunction to rose hip oil so I'm quite fond of vitamin-e type products. Clearasil V&E will hopefully improve my hyper-pigmentation as I heard vitamins are active ingredients in correcting discolouration and the overall health of my skin.

  4. The skin concerns that the Clearasil V&E can help me with definitely include the occasionally breakouts I get on my foreheads, yet managing to clean my face without drying it out due to the creamy consistency. Being a multi-tasker product, I can use it every day as a daily cleanser as well as leaving it on longer as a mask which will help nourish my skin and make it look healthy!

  7. I've been trying different products for many years but I really can't seem to find the one that works the best. If I obtain this product for experiment, after reading this, it seems like it will help me a lot. Clearasil has always been a product that sounds like quality, so I'd love to try it out because I think it would help in taking away the dirt in my skin but also keeping it fresh at the same time! Also, I'm a big fan of face masks and having a 2-in-1 skin care product would let me take care of my laziness/money lol.

  8. I have been wanting to try this product for a while but I haven't had time to buy it so it would be nice to try a new cleanser + mask before exam blocks come and hit me in the face.

  9. I'd really love to get this product because i'd love for my face to clear up from pimples and hopefully by using the product to reduce my blackheads/pores. I'd also be nice to try out a new product and see if it works great on my skin!

  10. I'm looking for a product that is going to keep my skin clear and oil-free without over-drying it. I'm hoping this product will help!

  11. I have tried a sample of this and it kept my skin very hydrated but not oily! My face is combination/oily so finding cleansers that work are very frustrating (even if the label says "Combination/Oily").
